How to take a screenshot snip

1. Manually capture your screen

  1. On a PC, press Windows key + Shift + S to open the snipping tool. On Mac, press Command + Shift + 4.
  2. Highlight the specific portion of your screen to capture.
  3. Save your screenshot and share it immediately or store it for later use.

While effective for basic screen snips, these steps lack advanced editing and sharing features. This might limit your screenshot’s usability for sharing feedback or creating presentations.

2. Use Loom to snip your screen

  1. Open Loom’s desktop app or Chrome extension and click the camera icon next to the video icon to access the snipping tool.
  2. Choose your screenshot type by selecting either Custom area or Current tab and then click Select area to proceed with snipping your screen.
  3. In the Loom’s screenshot editor, you can click Edit image to annotate your screenshot with text, shapes, or arrows to highlight key points.
  4. Click Save and copy link once done. Your screenshot is saved in Loom’s cloud library, where it’s readily accessible from My Library.
  5. You can also share your screenshot instantly using the copied link, or embed it into tools like Slack, Gmail, or Google Docs.

To download your screenshot using Loom’s snipping tool, click the three-dot icon in the top-right corner of the screenshot editor, which opens automatically after capturing your screen.

Then, select Download from the dropdown menu. Your image will be saved locally as a PNG file.
